A Destination Wedding in Montana

Brittney & Forrest  |  October 25th  |  Whitefish, Montana

Traveling from Canada, Brittney & Forrest planned a destination wedding at the beautiful Lodge at Whitefish Lake. They have known each other for 13 years, but not until 3 years ago did their friendship turn into more. Their wedding date, was the last date open at the lodge when they called to book it early on in the year, and it was the same day of Forrest’s proposal to Brittney the year before. They decided October 25th must just be meant to be. A few years earlier, they had tickets to the Brad Paisley concert in Calgary, on October 25th, and during his song “I Thought I Loved you then” Forrest got down on his knee and popped the question.
A Boho Destination Wedding in Whitefish, Montana

From the bride: I am a hippie at heart and tried to incorporate outdoorsy boho elements. I chose a mint and navy blue color palette.

We got married in a tent looking out onto the lake.

My advice: Don’t stress too much about wedding planning! Because once it’s over you realize how fun it actually was and kind of miss it.

Organic in the Forest

Claire & Joe | September 29th | Waterford Springs, Vermont

From the bride, Claire:
We held our wedding in a location that had significant meaning to us. It’s a place I have been coming since I was a child and it is a space that Joe and I have come alone, and with friends and family. It represents peace, solace and love for us.

I had my bridesmaids choose any green dress. My only direction was that it had to be a green found in nature.

Joe and I try to approach things with relaxed minds, holding things gently, so they are able to move on their own in organic directions. In this way, we are rarely disappointed with results, only surprised and delighted by them.

Our ceremony was held in an opening among the tall pines overlooking the Connecticut River. It was the kind of overcast day where the sky radiates light evenly, the sun infusing the clouds rather then being shrouded by them. Our dear friend Johanna officiated the ceremony with ease and composure, it was as if the love and support of each person was discernible in the air.

My advice:  If you feel comfortable in your skin while standing in the woods and mountains, then it will bring something powerful and incredibly focused to your ceremony and reception. Your wedding is an event that celebrates and punctuates the love and friendship that a relationship is born in and thrives from. Relax, breath, and take part in the joy!

We had a old typewriter out that we had used to make our invitations where people could write us words of advice and cheers.

Although unintentional, it turned out that the night of our wedding was also the Harvest Moon, which was such an auspicious happening! After the after party, we went down to the river and skinny dipped under that immense, bright moon!

Mountains & Sand in Canada

Jesse & Michael | July 24th | Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada

A sparkling lake with a sandy beach surrounded by Vancouver Island’s highest mountains, this destination wedding locale has all the natural elements plus, it’s completely off the grid (no television or telephones).  Our favorite details…. the canoe transportation and the colorful kilt worn by the groom!
