A Shabby Chic Wedding in North Carolina

From the bride, Kate:
Asheville & nature was the inspiration for our wedding day. The mountains are a sacred place that produces an energy that is so vibrant and positive. We tried to let the natural beauty of the mountains remain the focus.

My wedding dress was the same dress that my mother wore.  I had the dress re-made to look more updated and to fit me perfectly.  I found myself really missing my maternal grandmother on that day and somehow wearing the dress that she had bought for my mom made me feel like she was there with me.

The ceremony was customized to speak to our exact beliefs.  We wrote our vows and a good friend read a poem that we picked out.

We served local southern dishes such as fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese.  We used mason jars to serve beer which came from local breweries.

We decided not to have a dance floor.  This was the groom’s choosing and I was hesitant.  It turned out to be the best decision we made!  All guests ended up taking off their shoes and having a great time dancing in the cool grass!  The music was so much fun and truly catered to all ages.

My advice: It will be your perfect day no matter what!  You are marrying the love of your life.  Enjoy it!
