Rustic Chic with a New England Twist
From the bride, Tracy:
Since most of our guests had never been to Colorado before, we wanted our wedding to have a real Colorado feel. We fell in love with Spruce Mountain Ranch from the minute that we first saw it. We used the honeybee as a theme in memory of my father. The bee was on the invitations, the escort cards, the menu cards and we gave little jars of honey as one of the favors.
My father passed away 8 years ago from cancer so it important for me to include him in our special day. I wanted my bouquet to contain something that belonged to him. I gave one of his dress shirts that had his initials on the cuff to our florist. She worked her magic and what I ended up with was more that I could have ever imagined. It was like he was there holding my hand.
We were able to have our ceremony and reception in the same location, which was important to us. Our ceremony took place in a meadow, cocktail hour was outside by the stream and the reception was in the lodge with dancing under the stars.
Since Justin was from Ohio we had to have Buckeyes, which are chocolate candies with peanut butter in the middle. His sister Devon volunteered to make hundreds of them so we could give them out as favors to all our guests.
