Rocky Mountain Inspiration: Rustic Berry, Merlot & Blush
From the photographer, Melanie Bennett Photography:
Earlier this fall, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the breathtaking Crescent Falls, nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The moment I breathed in the fresh mountain air and laid eyes upon this stunning and unique location, I instantly fell in love and began dreaming of a rustic mountain wedding inspiration shoot rich with color, gorgeous florals and comforting home baked desserts.
When I think of the word rustic, one local company comes to mind: The Country Barn. The Country Barn handcrafts beautiful rustic furniture and custom pieces- I knew just who to call when in search of the perfect rustic table and seating. We set the table with herb green pottery dishes with a pomegranate for an embellishment, and lovely stationary custom created by AJ’s Craft Creations. The Flower Farm provided the wood chargers to create an earthiness to the table decor, as well as the candelabras and the linens.
The Valley House of Flowers has created bouquets for several weddings I have photographed over the years and I have always been blown away by their creativity and talent! I knew that these girls would be the ones who could bring my vision of magnificent flowers to life! As our palette for the shoot consisted of rich berry colors, I asked them if there was any way we could incorporate blackberries into the bouquet somehow and to surprise me with the rest! When I went to pick up the bouquet and centerpieces I was awestruck- what they had created was absolutely gorgeous, and even better than anything I could have possibly envisioned! They also provided a moss table runner, which added a natural feel to the table, which was strewn with fine cheeses and fruit. Our bride looked simply stunning in a sweeping veil handmade by Michal Designs, while Makeup Artist Morgan Bailey created a dramatic red lip, which not only tied in our color palette, but added a romantic look as well. Hairstylist Camille Weston added the perfect polishing touches by creating soft, touchable curls in the bride’s hair.
I chose to have a naked caked adorned with fresh wild berries and lightly dusted with confectioner’s sugar, which was beautifully and skillfully created by Lindsey’s Cupcakes and Cakes.
The homemade pies (lovingly baked by my own Grandma), caramel & candy apples, blackberries, grapes and pears all sat atop a table constructed from oak barrels and a vintage wooden door provided by The Peppermint Hen.
