A Rocky Mountain Destination Wedding in Vail
From the bride, Jennifer: We wanted the wedding to feel upscale while keeping in touch with the Colorado mountain setting. We created a mountain logo that incorporated our initials, which was used on our welcome bags, cocktail napkins, the reception dinner menu, escort cards, etc. We also customized the menu to utilize as much local food as possible to keep with the Colorado feel. We chose a color palette of white, peach and grey.
Natty Michelle Paperie created our custom hand drawn wedding maps.
We lit a unity candle during our ceremony. We enjoyed the symbolism of our two families coming together. My parents used the same candle on their wedding day, which made it even more special.
Looking out at our friends and family in the chapel. It was overwhelming and amazing all at once to feel their love and support.
My favorite detail was our signature cocktail, the “Southside.” This is our favorite drink to share in the groom’s hometown of Oyster Bay, NY and it brought a little bit of the east coast to the mountains.
A few deer joined our outdoor cocktail hour, which was an unexpected, fun moment.
My mom and I created the escort cards. They were in the shape of lift tickets with our mountain logo. We hung them from metal tags on a chic yet rustic wooden board.
Table décor included long seeded eucalyptus garlands interspersed with white florals, candles and antlers.
We named our tables named after Vail ski trails.
I can still picture our first dance and the father/daughter dance perfectly when I hear the songs played.
My advice: Enjoy every second – it flies by!

A Destination Wedding in Park City
From the bride, Amelia: For us, this was a destination wedding, but it was also a destination wedding for all of our guests, most of whom had never even visited Utah before. That being said, we wanted our wedding to feel like not only celebrating our love, but also be an experience for everyone. A chance to really get to fall in love with the mountains, much the same that we had. Having delicious food and drink offerings was also really important to us, and the Canyons truly practice the farm-to-table concept that we love.
We had a full Catholic mass for our ceremony at St. Mary’s Old Town Chapel.
Our guests took a private gondola from the base of the mountain, while sipping champagne, up to 8,000 feet. All while traveling through the peaks of the mountains to get to the reception.
We had our dinner under a tent and then had bistro lights hung in the middle of the grassy-space so that we could dance the night away under the stars in the mountains.
Looking back, not only was the setting a dream, but getting to have our family and the best of friends was one of the most powerful feelings I am sure we will ever experience.

A Vail Mountain Wedding Romance
From the bride, Erin:
Our wedding style was a mix of the natural beauty in the mountains with the romance of soft blush color tones.
The ceremony was really short and simple. We wrote our own vows in letters to each other and had them delivered before the ceremony.
We had cocktail hour on the patio outside Sebastian’s Leonora Restaurant. The weather was pure perfection, the drinks were wonderful, the food was outstanding.. and to see everyone you love in this beautiful place, having such a great time, was indescribable.
Our décor was soft and romantic with lots of natural wood, twigs and flowers. All very reflective of the beautiful Colorado mountains.
Our first dance was very memorable, we really practiced and were so nervous about it, then it went beautifully!
My advice: Don’t get too caught up in the planning. You should be more excited about being married to this person than the actual wedding and party. Remember the wedding is simply the celebration of the marriage!

A Comfy Autumn Wedding in the Appalachians
Kristy & Mark | November 11th | Cleveland, Georgia
From the photographer, Wendy Dixon of Innovative Memories Photography:
Picture the wedding day of your dreams…you’re nestled in the rolling hills with the Appalachian mountain range in view…it’s autumn, the sun is out, but there’s a chill in the air. PERFECT!! Mark and Kristy couldn’t have planned it any better! Every detail carefully planned and considered. So many thoughtful gestures to their guest expressing their appreciation of their presence on their day! Meaningful details applied, like her mother’s sleeve from her wedding dress used to wrap around her bouquet. Then there were the windows from her grandparents house framing the country blue door that served as a backdrop. I can still hear the laughter, smell the food and feel the emotion of the day.
Kristy’s dress was GORGEOUS and her colors tied in perfectly with the autumn palate that landscaped the venue.
Simple bouquets of crespedias flowers, wrapped with burlap, popped with autumn yellows! The bridesmaids chose their styles in matching gray and wore yellow sweaters and shoes.
From the bride, Kristy:
Our day was all about the comfort feel of Home where love and welcome-ness overflow into fun! Our friends and family were a part of every detail. We wanted everyone who came to know that they were appreciated. I will never forget the time I spend with Mark before the wedding. Away from everyone, we were able to soak up some moments together before the rush of the event, just talking and realizing that our day was a here.
The ceremony was outdoors on a beautiful fall afternoon. The back drop was built by my father from with windows from my great-grandparents house.
We wanted to start our marriage off by serving one another through the act of washing each others feet.
I was so ‘in the moment’ that I forgot to repeat my vows, which started a chain reaction of laughter!
The reception was low key and full of fun.
Kristy’s advice: RELAX. The day comes and goes so fast. Although the details are fun, they are not what you remember. Make decisions that you like and want and entrust your vision to someone who knows you well, and let the rest go. Enjoy your day with YOUR LOVE. Soak up the engagement time, t is a sweet blink of the eye!
