An Autumn Wedding in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado
From the bride, Tori:
We wanted to have our wedding in Colorado to really be able to show our family and friends why we moved to such a gorgeous state. I also wanted to get married outside in autumn because of the vibrant tree colors.
We were married on the lawn with a view of the Collegiate mountain peaks.
Instead of a sign-in guest book, we took three of our favorite Chicago sports teams jerseys to have people sign. We have them framed and hanging in our house.
I am an avid handwritten card lover, so at each table we had people write us letters that corresponded to the table they were sitting at. “Write a note to Tony and Tori to open on their 8th wedding anniversary”.
Our reception ended up being 7 hours long, so we got to celebrate with everyone!
My advice: It is your wedding and it should represent the two of you, do not get lost in the planning or in family/friend expectations. Also, ALWAYS number the back of the invitation return cards because there will definitely be people who do not return them and who forget to write their names on them!

Venue, Caterer & Lodging: Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. All our guests stayed in cabins on the property. It was a three day party for everyone. The food was fantastic and locally grown.
Photographer: Trystan Photography. I like Trig’s style because it reminded me of a photojournalist. I wanted the wedding pictures to tell a story and capture us. He was easy to talk to and he understood what I was looking for. He’s a really amazing guy and photographer.
Wedding Gown Designer: Mikaella from Bea’s Bridal Nook. They were wonderful. I felt like they made sure that I had the whole store to myself every time I came in since it is an intimate event and very awkward at times!
Invitations: The Watermark. The owner is very helpful and sweet.

Wine Country Elegance in Vail
Carina & James | August 24th | Vail, Colorado
From the bride: After I visited Vail with James, I fell in love with the town. I could not imagine having my wedding in a more beautiful location. A mountain destination wedding is so intimate and the views from the top of Vail Mountain are stunning.
THE DECOR
I had no idea what to expect with the décor. When I walked into the room I started crying. It was everything I could ever imagine and more. Quite frankly, I knew the room was decorated amazing, but did not appreciate its beauty until I saw Jason and Gina’s photographs of the room.
James and I really enjoy wine so we loved all of the wine-inspired touches.

A Rustic Romance in Jasper National Park
Nadine & Mark | October 13th | Jasper, Alberta, Canada
From the bride, Nadine:
We picked Jasper for our wedding because Mark and I both love the mountains! We also love fall and how the trees and leafs change color, and being in the mountains in fall is so beautiful! Rustic to me is romance. Being in the beautiful mountains, there no other theme that made more sense the romantic rustic
My favorite DIY project was the sign that we made for the wedding. It turned out perfect, fit the theme perfect and was just how I envisioned it!
The decorations for the reception were 98% DIY. We wanted to keep it simple. We had very simple centerpieces, Mason jars with baby’s breath, candles and a piece of wood from my parents old tree for the table number holder. We also made a “wishing tree” that cost us nothing and was a great way to get keepsake advice and comments from our loved ones.

Surrounded by Forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Willow & Paul | May 19th | Black Mountain, North Carolina
From the bride, Willow:
We wanted a venue that showed off the natural beauty of the area, so our guests, who were all traveling from out of town, would really be able to feel outside of their everyday. We also wanted a blank canvas that we could make our own and a venue with at least some lodging on site. My family and oldest friends are mostly from the Chicago area, Paul’s are largely from New Jersey, and we live in Brooklyn. It’s not very common for everyone we love to be in the same place at the same time, and we wanted to provide the stage for that kind of togetherness.
My favorite décor element was the doors. I had originally envisioned an indoor wedding, so the theme of the décor was “outside in and inside out.” We had eight antique, off-white doors installed in an open field to create a somewhat structured aisle from the door of the tent to the actual aisle at the ceremony site. It ended up giving the space a fanciful, Alice in Wonderland, feel. The florist added a chandelier on a wood stump and terrariums for centerpieces which also played up the indoor/outdoor theme.
My absolute favorite detail was my dress. I loved my dress. It was a ballgown with a contemporary, artistic, and vintage edge. I’d already tried on a bunch of dresses, and when I tried this one it felt perfect.
The place cards, which turned out perfect, were my obligatory, patience-testing DIY project. I rented a late-1960s vintage typewriter, typed out names and table number onto manila shipping tags, and tied ribbons on to them in colors that represented the attendees’ chosen entrées. It looked vintage, natural and elegant. The best thing about our wedding was being with the people we love, and feeling their love and their support of us. Everyone who attended went out of their way to share our big day with us. Without them there none of the details would have mattered.

A Dreamy Autumn Mountain Wedding
Amanda & Ryan | September 29th | Edwards, Colorado
From the bride, Amanda:
We both love the mountains and skiing so we decided to plan a destination wedding to Colorado. The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera was the perfect location for us because it had an intimate feel and had breathtaking views of the mountains. We wanted to keep our wedding fairly small and had about 60 people in attendance, all family and close friends.
The ceremony took place on the Overlook Lawn about an hour before sunset. The scenery was even more beautiful than we could have imagined since all of the aspen trees were changing color for fall.
In lieu of a guest book, we had a vintage Colorado map for guests to sign.
We created small wooden decorations that were a part of the table décor. We burned a heart with our initials into small tree stumps.
We both attended Texas A&M University so we wanted some details to reflect this. The groom’s cake and bride’s garter were both A&M themed. We also had the DJ play the Aggie War Hymn at the reception.
It was truly our dream wedding!

Rustic Chic on Lake Tahoe
Jessica & Joe | June 23rd | Lake Tahoe, California
From the bride, Jessica:
We both love the mountains and lakes. I skied in Lake Tahoe as a kid and remembered the picturesque landscape, the large pine cones and the relaxed atmosphere. So, when it came to deciding on where to have our big day, Lake Tahoe had everything we were looking for.
I wore a gown by Alyne and purple Jimmy Choo wedges.
We held our short and charming ceremony on the lawn with panoramic views of Lake Tahoe.
The aisle was lined with red rose pedals, purple ribbon and pine cones.
We hung several family photo collages and used chalkboards to create a rustic feel.
Our escort cards were pine cones with ripped purple cardstock.
For decor, we used lots of lanterns and mason jars along with a summer mix of flowers that were simple yet gorgeous.
Joe’s favorite board game is Scrabble and those who know him would consider him obsessed and unusually talented at this game. So we used Scrabble letters for the table names that were all places we have been along with pictures of us at that destination.
Our first dance song was “She’s Got a Way” by Billy Joel. I listened to this song over and over again as a child.
