An Elegant Wedding in the Foothills of Colorado

From the Magazine: Annie & Eric |  June 16th

From the bride: We tried to make the day about us, and wanted to make the day as fun as possible for our guests. I love purple, so everything had a lavender touch to it that we complimented with whites and blush. Continue reading below:

An Autumn Wedding in Park City

From the bride, Jennifer: We got engaged in the mountains, and we couldn’t think of a more perfect place to exchange our vows than the beautiful backdrop of Utah’s scenery. It was just perfect for us. Serene, peaceful and majestic.

Purple is my favorite color, always has been, after all, it’s the color of royalty!  I wanted something simple and chic, elegant but not overplayed.  A little eccentric but sophisticated.  For example, my dress had unfinished hemlines but the sparkle of the belt gave it the WOW factor.  I wanted the whole wedding to be that way.

LoganWalker0103

My mom sewed a handwritten note from my grandmother, who passed away in 2002, into the hem of my wedding dress. It was a card she wrote to me in 1988 that says’ “My sweet Jennifer, always remember how much I love you.”

Having my dad walk me down the aisle was something I had been looking forward to my whole life. My dad is a very special person to me.  He has always been the most important man in my life and it was very sentimental to have him by my side on my big day.

The cake was white fondant with edible silver glitter. I love glitter to a fault.

Looking back, the day went by WAY too quickly. We had a packed itinerary and I wish that we would have had more time to spend with everyone! I also wished we would not have rushed off so quickly the next morning on our honeymoon. We would have preferred to stay a few days with the family at the resort and THEN leave for the honeymoon.

My advice

1. Have realistic expectations. A wedding is a celebration of love. It is all about marrying the man of your dreams; it is NOT about the show. At the end of the day if you are married to your Prince Charming, then the day was a success. THAT is what matters. Don’t get wrapped up in what other people want or what you see on pinterest. Talk to your fiancé, figure out what you want together and do that. You will be much happier in the end, I promise.

2. Invest in a good photographer and videographer. When all is said and done, it will be the most tangible way you’ll have to remember your day.  Dinner will get eaten, flowers will die, the music will go quiet, memories will fade, but your photos and videos will last forever.

3. Take the time to soak it all in. Take moments, before you put on the dress to breathe.  Put on the dress and give yourself a second to reflect.  Close your eyes, say a prayer and reflect on why you are where you are.  Hug your bridesmaids before you leave for the ceremony. Tell them how much they mean to you.  Stop at the top of the aisle… take a deep breath, look around.  The day will go by so quickly, taking the time to have quiet reflective moments is the best thing I did.  Hold your husband’s hand. Don’t let the true meaning of the day get lost in the chaos.  Take selfies, do the photo booth, put on your dancing shoes and have some fun, you’ve waited your whole life for this.

A Whimsical Wedding in the Mountains

From the bride, Kristin: The Rocky Mountains provided the most magnificent backdrop and set the tone for our romantic and magical wedding.
A Whimsical & Magical Wedding in the Colorado Rocky Mountains

I gravitated towards a more clean and tailored look since I am not a fussy person. Our color palette was mostly white with various shades of purple and orange.

The ceremony was very personal and sweet.  After I took my husband’s hand, it was the first time I had relaxed the entire year!

We were so excited to just be married and start the next chapter of our lives together.

Our reception had a romantic feel with lots of candles and soft lighting creating a warm and comfortable dinner experience.

Looking back, it’s hard to remember specific moments throughout the evening, but I remember walking (slightly being carried) away and just feeling warm and happy and loved. I’m jealous of people that can remember all the details of their wedding day!

My advice: Remember what is important and don’t let external parties change the way you feel about your wedding. The most important part is your marriage even though the wedding itself can feel like it’s taking priority.

A Vail Mountain Wedding Romance

From the bride, Erin:
Our wedding style was a mix of the natural beauty in the mountains with the romance of soft blush color tones.

Megan W Photography Megan W Photography Megan W Photography Megan W PhotographyThe ceremony was really short and simple. We wrote our own vows in letters to each other and had them delivered before the ceremony.

Megan W Photography Megan W Photography Megan W Photography Megan W PhotographyWe had cocktail hour on the patio outside Sebastian’s Leonora Restaurant.  The weather was pure perfection, the drinks were wonderful, the food was outstanding.. and to see everyone you love in this beautiful place, having such a great time, was indescribable.

Megan W Photography Megan W Photography

Our décor was soft and romantic with lots of natural wood, twigs and flowers.  All very reflective of the beautiful Colorado mountains.

Megan W Photography

Our first dance was very memorable, we really practiced and were so nervous about it, then it went beautifully!

Megan W Photography Megan W Photography

My advice: Don’t get too caught up in the planning. You should be more excited about being married to this person than the actual wedding and party. Remember the wedding is simply the celebration of the marriage!
