A Wedding in the Pines at the Arboretum in Flagstaff

Megan & TJ  | June 14th

From the photographers, Adam and Priscilla:

Megan and TJ had taken their time looking for a perfect spot to say “I do”. Even though they live in the desert, their favorite place to be is among the pines in the high country of Northern Arizona. There are so many amazing places but The Arboretum at Flagstaff was the perfect venue for their Flagstaff wedding in the woods. Their fur babies, Henry and Diego joined in on the festivities. These two pups were just as excited for Megan and TJ’s big day as the rest of their gracious family and friends!

THE CEREMONY

TJ stood at the edge of a Ponderosa Pine Forest with the majestic Mount Humphreys in the background. Even though we were at altitude, it was Megan who took TJ’s breath away. With each step closer, he held his breath and fought the tears back, this glowing bride was to be his partner in life. This is what life is about, living in the moment with the person you love.

They stood beneath the arch draped with fresh roses, eucalyptus, anemones, and thistle blooms. Megan held her hand out softly and TJ took it into his own and once together the world is serene. The focus between the two was unbreakable; you can just tell that they know how each other was feeling and thinking without even saying a word. The love between them is all they need.

The Arboretum at Flagstaff grounds were full of life from the spring rains; lush greenery that didn’t even look like Arizona, the flowers, trees, and grasses were abundant with new growth. As we made our way out of the pine forest chasing the beautiful golden hour with the newlyweds we spoke of craft beer, good music, food, and our common love of the forest and nature.

Friendly horny toads wandered the paths alongside us and birds filled the air with their songs. The peaks of Mount Humphreys were aglow in the early evening light. It was a perfect June day for a wedding in Arizona.

Both Megan and TJ are kind and thoughtful with a love for artisanship. It came through in every detail of their intimate wedding; from the beautiful florals, the Arboretum, his blue suit with a sage green tie that perfectly matched TJ’s eyes. Even their honeymoon to the Oregon coast where they could go enjoy nature and good craftsmanship.

A Mountaintop Elopement in Arizona

From the photographer, Melissa Holland Photography:  Shana and Chris came down from Phoenix last October for their small, elopement-style wedding with their parents at Windy Point on Mt. Lemmon and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Chris is a climber and they have both spent lots of time exploring all the nooks and crannies of this mountain. And boy did he find the ideal/intimate spot for their ceremony. Tucson is known for it’s beautiful, sunny, cloud-free weather, but on this day, we had clouds, wind, and even rain. That didn’t stop this couple from having the most beautiful, thoughtful, gorgeous celebration on this mountain EVER! The sun was setting through the dark clouds as they said their “I Do’s” and cast a warm glow on everything. We escaped the rain for the ceremony and had just enough time for a few shots of the newlyweds before the rain came.

A Garden Themed Wedding in the Mountains

From the photographer, Brie Marie Photographers:
Katie & Kyle’s wedding was held at Katie’s family nursery. Not only was this a beautiful little spot for a wedding, it was also sentimental to the bride as it was the place she grew up going to visit her daddy at work. The type of quiet serenity that comes with driving miles up into the breathtaking White Mountains in Arizona is something you will never experience in the hustle and bustle of a city.  It turned out to be a blustery and stormy day complete with torrential downpour and golf ball sized hail. Despite the fact that it was a summer wedding held on August 3rd, there was one point during the day that it appeared as if it had recently snowed because the ground was covered in sheets of hail. Everyone, including the bride, took it in stride. At one point, Katie looked out the window and said “I have lived her my whole life and I have never seen it rain like this!”

Katie didn’t miss a beat when it came to details. Her color scheme was grey, white and green. She made most of the decor herself which all pointed back to the nursery theme. She thought of everything from potted basil and rosemary plants set on old wooden pallets to candles wrapped in herbs. Every detail was absolutely perfect and practically dripping with sentimentality.

Katie wore a stunning satin and beaded, one shoulder, dress with matching veil and held an exquisite white and green bouquet which was photographed on the ladder leading up to the treehouse that Katie and her brother played in as children. But, perhaps, the sweetest thing Katie wore were the pearls given to her by her grandfather when she was born. The Bridesmaids wore simple grey dresses with green sashes and their look was topped off by the most comfortable shoe in the history of bridesmaids – TOMS! The ceremony site was a sea of people wearing ponchos and holding umbrellas. Until the bride and her dad began to walk down the aisle. As soon as they stepped for out of her dad’s old Ford truck the clouds parted and the sun shone through the clouds in creating one of the most breath taking skies I have ever seen. It didn’t rain another drop the rest of the night! A Nursery Themed Wedding in the White Mountains of Arizona

Kyle and Katie were married on a bridge made by Katie’s father and brother and underneath the tree that Katie and her dad planted when he first opened the nursery.

They danced for the first time as husband and wife  under the stars surrounded by towering pine trees and the many friends and family who absolutely adored them.

The night was concluded by one of the greatest parties I have ever witnessed. Not a single guest stayed in their seats. There was hardly even enough room on the dance floor to hold everyone! It was an absolutely wonderful day for one of the sweetest and most genuine couples I have ever met. Their love for one another just bubbles over in everything they do.
