An Elegant & Classic Denver Wedding

From the photographer, From the Hip Photo: Noam and Alexandra’s wedding was held this past September at the Four Seasons in Downtown Denver. The couple wanted a classic black tie affair which was perfectly executed by Calluna Events. The bride wore a silk Kelly Faetanini gown with jeweled lace bodice. The groom and groomsmen looked sharp in black tuxes while the bridesmaids wore long Adrianna Papell beaded gowns in champagne. The bouquets from Newberry Brothers featured pale pink and lavender accents that echoed throughout the wedding décor. This amazing wedding day was filled with friends and family from across the world.

A Chic Mountain Wedding in Sun Valley, Idaho

From the bride, Samantha: We are from Miami, Florida and got married in Sun Valley, Idaho – where we got engaged! It was so great to have all of our closest friends and family in the mountains together – so far removed from our everyday lives – with tons of activities to do together.

The whole day was really personalized to what Adam & I wanted. We’re very casual and laid back and we just wanted to party in a beautiful setting!

A Chic Mountain Wedding in Sun Valley, Idaho

The weather wasn’t working in our favor all weekend.  It didn’t rain all summer and of course, our wedding day was expecting rain. We had to order a tent for the ceremony last minute.

We held the ceremony outside underneath a clear tent with the ski mountain as the backdrop. We are Jewish so we were married by a rabbi, with a traditional Jewish ceremony under a chuppah.

When the rabbi asked if my husband takes me to be his wife, his response was “yes” instead of “I do”! It was so typical of him and lots of laughter ensued!

I loved the way the florals turned out. The chandeliers were outfitted with flowers and greenery to match our color scheme and gave the tent a warm feeling.

Most memorable moment: Our first dance! We took dance lessons, which is SO out of character for the two of us but the end result was pretty comical.

ADVICE: I would encourage everyone to make decisions together. Adam and I did a lot of the legwork ourselves and it was fun! Definitely stressful at times, but remember that it’s just one day in your life…and to have FUN with it.

Mountain Wedding Elegance in Tennessee

Samantha and Jack tied the knot over the Fourth of July weekend in the Smoky Mountains. Samantha loves everything that glitters and shines, so she added a beautiful rhinestone belt and bracelet along with a cathedral veil to her stunning gown. The ceremony was filled with hundreds of stunning florals. Their puppy, Lilly, wore a blush pink floral collar and a cute sign that read,  “Daddy, here comes mommy”.  The reception tent was overflowing with lush florals.

A Rocky Mountain Destination Wedding in Vail

From the bride, Jennifer: We wanted the wedding to feel upscale while keeping in touch with the Colorado mountain setting.  We created a mountain logo that incorporated our initials, which was used on our welcome bags, cocktail napkins, the reception dinner menu, escort cards, etc. We also customized the menu to utilize as much local food as possible to keep with the Colorado feel. We chose a color palette of white, peach and grey.

We lit a unity candle during our ceremony.  We enjoyed the symbolism of our two families coming together.  My parents used the same candle on their wedding day, which made it even more special.

Looking out at our friends and family in the chapel.  It was overwhelming and amazing all at once to feel their love and support.

My favorite detail was our signature cocktail, the “Southside.”  This is our favorite drink to share in the groom’s hometown of Oyster Bay, NY and it brought a little bit of the east coast to the mountains.

A few deer joined our outdoor cocktail hour, which was an unexpected, fun moment.

My mom and I created the escort cards.  They were in the shape of lift tickets with our mountain logo. We hung them from metal tags on a chic yet rustic wooden board.

Table décor included long seeded eucalyptus garlands interspersed with white florals, candles and antlers.

A Mountain Destination Wedding in Colorado

From the bride, Sani: Having grown up in California, all our family and most of our friends were traveling out of state to celebrate. That was something really special for us. We have been in Colorado for about 5 years and when we were invited to a wedding at Devil’s Thumb Ranch three years ago we instantly fell in love with the venue and knew it was where we would say our I do’s. Over the last several years, we’ve stayed at the Ranch on and off, taken our family and friends, and got to know the area very well. On the actual day of the event, because we had been there for several days, we were both pretty relaxed. Our bridesmaids and groomsmen were carefully chosen and represented different snippets of our lives. Our families were also integral to how happy we both were. Everyone’s love and encouragement not only that weekend, but through our entire relationship, has been so overwhelming, so we were very fortunate to have all of our close friends and family celebrating with us. We really want to take this opportunity to thank everyone again for traveling such long distances to be with us and help us start our journey as a married, happy couple. Every single person there, including all the incredible vendors, made this the best party we’ve ever been to. This REALLY was the best day of our lives.

A Destination Wedding in Park City

From the bride, Amelia: For us, this was a destination wedding, but it was also a destination wedding for all of our guests, most of whom had never even visited Utah before. That being said, we wanted our wedding to feel like not only celebrating our love,  but also be an experience for everyone. A chance to really get to fall in love with the mountains, much the same that we had. Having delicious food and drink offerings was also really important to us, and the Canyons truly practice the farm-to-table concept that we love.

We had a full Catholic mass for our ceremony at St. Mary’s Old Town Chapel.

Our guests took a private gondola from the base of the mountain, while sipping champagne, up to 8,000 feet.  All while traveling through the peaks of the mountains to get to the reception.

We had our dinner under a tent and then had bistro lights hung in the middle of the grassy-space so that we could dance the night away under the stars in the mountains.

Looking back, not only was the setting a dream, but getting to have our family and the best of friends was one of the most powerful feelings I am sure we will ever experience.

A White Tie Mountain Wedding in Utah

From the bride, Sarah: We wanted a white tie wedding, very formal and very traditional. We both felt very strongly that marriage is an expression of love and commitment to each other. It was not something to be entered into lightly, and keeping with tradition, it was also my parents 36 wedding anniversary. Historically, the people we know who have had a more traditional wedding, have stood the test of time.

A White Tie Mountain Wedding in Canyon Resort, Utah

Being from a long line of southern women. Engraved invitations were the only option. I did embellish them with ribbon and a wax seal. I hand wrote every outer and inner envelope my self. The coolest feature is we now have the copper plates for each piece of the engraving. They will be framed.

A White Tie Mountain Wedding in Canyon Resort, Utah

For the ceremony, we wanted an arch wrapped in vines, flowers, and crystals. I created the chair backs with love birds.

My Uncle George performed the exact ceremony performed at my parents wedding, from the same book. The book was my great, great grandfathers ceremony book – it is over 100 years old.

I only wanted one floral centerpiece. All white hydrangeas to fall off the edge of the table and pool on the floor.

Our favors were hand printed scarves that matched our wedding linens in custom boxes with custom notes inside. The boxes were embossed with white flowers and vines.

We used floating chandeliers and dangling lights under the tent.

My advice:

1.  Enjoy every minute of the planning process; I had the best time with my mother planning our wedding. There was no drama, no issues. And I had found my dress with my mother; it was a very special perfect moment, one she had imagined since I was little. My mother cried when we found the dress.

2.  Hand write all your envelopes and every thank you card including the envelopes. After all it might be the only time in your life you do this…. And labels are not personal.

3.  Learn the phrase, “I don’t know… call the wedding planner.”

A Simple Ranch Wedding in Montana

From the bride. Mackenzie: Our day was totally “us”. We actually stayed together the evening before the wedding, waking up and starting our most important day together was very important, it made the rest of the day feel comfortable and just right.

An Elegant Ranch Wedding in Montana An Elegant Ranch Wedding in Montana An Elegant Ranch Wedding in Montana An Elegant Ranch Wedding in Montana

Our color palette was blush, natural tones, and sage green. I really tried to incorporate the natural beauty around us.

The bridal party got together and went skeet shooting. That was John’s idea and such a highlight of the day! Shooting a shotgun in my wedding dress is a memory that will last forever.

Crossing the bridge and coming through the trees, to see John, and my closet family and friends, waiting to take us into this beautiful phase of our lives, made me feel completely at ease and my fullest self.  My heart was full, sun shining down, and time stood still. On that day, our world was absolutely perfect and just as we had imagined.

An Elegant Ranch Wedding in Montana

We wrote our entire ceremony and vows, making it so personal. Our bridal party and grandparents shared readings. We had a small group of friends and family (60), which created a warm, supportive feeling during our ceremony.

The reception was under a tent. The décor was very natural, classic, and feminine. While we were outdoors there were still elegant details. The colors and flowers played up the natural beauty of our setting.

I spent a year purchasing vintage plates for the reception. I was also given plates from family and at my bridal shower. It was a neat detail to look around the reception and remember the stories from each plate.

One highlight was the surprise blackjack table I planned for John. In the early stages of our wedding planning, we discussed some “dream ideas”. Giving the logistics of a destination wedding, John thought we should let go of the blackjack idea. Together with Shane (the manager at the ranch), we found a dealer, gathered the supplies, and funded the bank to host a blackjack game throughout the reception. After John and I finished our first dance, the DJ came over the mic and said, “John there is just one more thing you need to do with your wife…” At that time, the dealer unveiled the table and the two of us played the first hand of blackjack. Lucky for us, we both got 21 – big winners! The table was open for the rest of the night and such a hit! Our guests looooved it and it served as a great compliment to the dancing.

An Elegant Ranch Wedding in Montana

My advice: Do it together. Talk about your dream ideas, discuss your expectations, share your feelings along the way. Make the process just as fun as your big day. Hire a videographer.
