A Fun & Relaxed Colorado Mountain Wedding

From the bride, Kimberly: We wanted the wedding to feel fresh, fun, and personal to our style. We are outdoorsy, and I’m an elementary teacher, so we wanted little pops of fun and whimsy.

THE CEREMONY: The ceremony was outdoors against a gorgeous backdrop of Piney Lake and the Gore Mountain Range. It was a gorgeous, sunny day, and everything went beautifully! We were so lucky. We wrote our own vows, which we revealed to each other in the moment.

THE GUEST TABLES: Instead of table numbers, each table was named after a country we have traveled to together as a couple (Egypt, Israel, Germany, China, Austria, Thailand, Honduras, etc).

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: We loved our private canoe ride on Piney Lake at sunset… amazing moment we’ll always cherish!

THE DANCING:  During the father-daughter dance to Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely,”  my dad pulled a harmonica out of his pocket during the instrumental break and played along.

LATE-NIGHT SNACK: We loved roasting s’mores against an epic night sky of stars – no light pollution in the mountains!

MY ADVICE:  Have fun! And create a designated wedding email to separate your personal correspondence from your wedding-related correspondence – that’s step 1! Agree on a budget, talk about each of your non-negotiable hopes and dreams, and get a few big-ticket budget items taken care of early. Find little ways to make it personal – guests noticed and appreciated those little details, and they made the day feel special for us.

Sea Glass in the Mountains

Alba & Andrew  |  September 1st  |  Granby, Colorado

From the bride, Alba:
I wanted a romantic, rustic, elegant wedding without the stuffiness of formal weddings that aren’t really our style. Kara, my wedding planner, thought of the theme “Sea Glass in the Mountains” which I loved. We had blue and green glassware, with hints of yellow and milk white glass.

My Anjolique dress was simple, yet detailed and very romantic. brinton0104 brinton0105 brinton0106Our ceremony took place in the yard outside my husband’s family home, which is located right on the Colorado River. It’s an understatement to call the location a backyard because it is so majestic.

brinton0107 brinton0108

My father in law officiated the ceremony, and had it been anyone else, would not have been anywhere near as special. Hearing someone speak of love, marriage, and friendship that you hold in such high regard really hits close to our hearts.brinton0109 brinton0110 brinton0111 brinton0112 brinton0113 brinton0114 brinton0115

Our personalized wedding favors, which also served as name/table placards, were mini succulents.

The tables were just arranged perfectly by Kara. I was so lucky to have so many of the details I’d always dreamed of.

brinton0117 brinton0118

Our first dance as husband and wife, my dance with my dad, looking out at our closest loved ones during dinner and taking in all the chatter and laughter and smiles – these are moments etched in my memory.brinton0119Looking back: I do wish I would have started planning sooner and gone with my gut instinct instead of entertaining everyone else’s ideas.  I wish I had spoken up sooner when I didn’t like something –it would have saved me a lot of time. Don’t worry about being perceived as nice and not difficult, just say what you want in a respectful way – you are paying these people after all, they work for you!

brinton0120

My advice: Enjoy your time, think about what makes you happy and don’t worry about what others tell you. Take advice constructively. Take help from the people who offer it!

Fun in the Rockies at Winter Park Resort

Annie & Brennan |  July 14th  | Winter Park, Colorado

From the bride:
Our wedding day was so much fun. We had some of our favorite people in the whole world surrounding us. We would love to do it all again because we had such a great time!
I wore my grandma’s garter (that had blue in it) and a pearl bracelet that my dad had given me.I love feminine things (Anthropologie is my favorite store in the whole world) so not many were surprised that I went with a lace dress. I wore pink shoes under my dress to match my bridesmaids! The ceremony was so beautiful and meaningful. I wasn’t looking forward to walking down the aisle at all; I don’t like having attention on me, but by the time it happened I surprisingly didn’t even care. I was just so excited! The weather held up during most of the ceremony and then all of a sudden you could hear the thunder and it started to rain! My matron of honor held umbrellas over us as we giggled, trying to do our unity candle. Needless to say, the ceremony was cut a little short.

We all changed into our colorful flip flops following the ceremony.

The reception was a blast and the food was AMAZING! All the speeches were so touching and meaningful. After dinner the dancing was SO FUN! Everyone was out there having a blast. We were afraid the deck would break. Even the wait staff was having a ball and commented on how fun the wedding was. That was the best part…everyone there, no matter their age had a blast. I never thought I would enjoy my own wedding so much!

My only regret is I got so busy I didn’t get to eat any cake!!!! I am a huge dessert person, so this was a major sin for me.RECOMMENDED VENDORS

Surrounded by Nature

Kiley & Andy | August 5th | Breckenridge, Colorado

At 10,010 feet, surrounded by the grandeur of the Ten Mile Range, Kiley & Andy recited their vows in an intimate ceremony on the deck of Sevens at Peak 7.  The beautiful backdrop and emotional moments were all lovingly captured by Jason + Gina Wedding Photographers.

From the bride:
Breckenridge is amazing. The town itself has a way of making you feel like you’re in another world and letting you escape.   Its so beautiful in both summer and winter and we both knew our families would have lots of activities to choose from. We like Breckenridge because it has an upscale feel but is still very relaxed and casual.  We knew this had to be the spot we tied the knot!

We decided to make this a weeklong vacation for both our families. We rented a 6 bedroom majestic mansion on the mountain and stuck both our families in the house for the week!  The big surprise was that everyone got along amazingly and really enjoyed the company.  Everyone got to know each other a little bit more and by the end of the week we were one big happy family!

Our first look was probably the most memorable moment. Leading up to this moment we’d been surrounded by family and little kids and lots of activity. For the whole previous week we didn’t have any alone time.  Our amazing photographers helped us find a cool, shady spot in the tall pines just off the slopes that was perfect. I snuck up on Andy over logs and brush and jumped on him! When he turned around and kissed me I was immediately overwhelmed with happiness and started crying. Although Jason and Gina were there taking shots we really felt totally alone and it was such a wonderful moment, our first one together, just us in quite a while.

The day of our wedding it was a perfect summer day in the Rockies; the sun was shining and it was mid 70’s with just a slight breeze.  The deck had the most beautiful view overlooking the town of Breckenridge with snow capped peaks in the distance and plenty of space to view the deep Colorado blue skies.  Being that the majority of our guests were from the East Coast this was quite a site for them to see.  It could not have been more spectacular.

The ceremony so much more than I expected. I found it interesting how I was surrounded by the most important people in my life and they all seem to disappear when I saw Andy waiting for me at the end of the isle.  Marrying him in that setting was truly the most memorable experience of my life.  I thought I had all my tears out during our first look but when we exchanged rings I couldn’t help it. I was so overcome with joy and thankfulness that God brought me to this moment with Andy. I felt and still feel unbelievably blessed.

Our first dance was to One Republic’s “Good Life” and again, the rest of the world disappeared to me as we danced around the room. I hadn’t ever seen such a huge and lasting smile on my husband’s face and it was wonderful. From that point on I didn’t stop dancing all night.
