A Blue & Yellow Wedding in Vail, Colorado
From the bride, Gabby: The most important thing we considered while planning our wedding was each other. We really wanted to be true to our roots and keep things simple. The style was inspired by our lifestyle and we personalized the day down to every little detail. We love the mountains and chose Vail as it is a mini-Switzerland with all the romantic feels. We held our wedding on Sunday over Memorial Day weekend so that people could travel from out of state and not take days off work unless they wanted to.
THE FLOWERS
Our flowers had a wildflower mountain feel with a nice pop of yellow (my favorite color).
THE BRIDESMAIDS
The wedding party wore different shades of blue which looked great standing in front of the green aspen trees.
THE CEREMONY DECOR
We assembled and stained our ladder alter and the aspen buckets going down the aisle.
FUNNY MOMENT
We had three signs for our three ring bearers to hold down the aisle. The first said “Uncle Nick” the second said “Here Comes” and the third said “Your Bride” but the ring bearer in the middle who was three years old wasn’t having anything to do with that sign, so it read “Uncle Nick… Your Bride”. It got a big laugh from the crowd and it still kind of worked!
MEMORABLE CEREMONY MOMENT
Every moment of the day was truly a favorite: walking down the aisle with my dad, saying our own vows, the poem read from the oldest ring bearer, and the KISS!
Looking back, we would absolutely recommend a mountain wedding and depending on the time of year, you could capture any season you’d like from a spring mountain wedding with all the flowers blooming to a winter wedding with snow on the mountain.
ADVICE
Make the day about the two of you and not let anyone else’s wants, needs, or vision get in the way. The only things we would do differently would be to have a day-of coordinator and a videographer.

An April Wedding in Vail
From the event planner, Stacy Horn of JA Special Events: Mountain weather can be unpredictable in April, but Vail locals Ashley and Mark, completely embraced the gently falling snow that softened their wedding day. Brinton Studios beautifully captured the romance of that first dance on the Donovan Pavilion patio surrounded by friends, family, baby’s breath, and shimmering bubbles, the festive bridal party serenade from a green Turtle Bus, the sacred moments of a meaningful ceremony at Vail Chapel, and hand-crafted details like the pretzel ski poles dipped in chocolate by Ashley’s mom, the escort cards displayed in wine corks on wine-box cheeseboards crafted by Mark, and the aspen tree masterpiece cake by Mountain Flour. A gourmet mac and cheese station from Footers Catering warmed guests up for an evening of fun and dancing.

A Modern Mountain Wedding in Vail, Colorado
From the bride, Lindsay: Tim and I grew up skiing and snowboarding, hiking and camping in the mountains. We have always loved the mountains and knew we had to get married surrounded by the place that truly felt like home. The rustic, yet elegant feel that you get when you are in the Colorado Mountains is like nothing anyone can explain.
We really wanted our wedding to express our love for the mountains as well as our personalities.
The sun was shining and there was not even a cloud in the sky when I walked down the aisle to “Here comes the Sun” by the Beatles. It was truly the most magical day to get married.
We truly felt like we were on top of the world!
For the décor, we wanted the mountain modern feel expressed with touches of the clean white Aspens and bright yellow and grey patterns. We also thought that the mint green of the succulents brought out the little extra touch of modern that we loved!
All of our signs were made from real aspen trees. We used a wood burner to personalize each detail including the bride and groom drinks, guest book, favors, and our “Mr. and Mrs.” Chair signs.
The Jewish Horah was truly memorable and being tossed in chairs by our family and friends is something we both will never forget!
We made our favors for each of our guests. We had a Lindsay spice and a Tim spice. Each one was personalized with a note with cooking ideas. They turned out wonderful and had a spice of love to them!
One of my most memorable moments was sitting with our wedding party next to the fire pit realizing how lucky we are to be surrounded by the most amazing family and friends on a perfect day!
My advice: Do not be afraid to make your dream wedding come true and always remember the reason why you are getting married.

A Mountain Glam Wedding in Vail, Colorado
From the bride, Elisa: Having been born and raised in Colorado, I knew I wanted to make our wedding truly authentic with all the things that I love about my home state. Since John and I have so many wonderful memories in Vail, it was an easy decision to make when choosing our wedding destination. Our wedding planning started with a few themes: simple, rustic and elegant with a vintage flare. We started with a few details and it grew from there.
The flowers at the ceremony and reception stayed true to our theme. I envisioned a natural wild flower look, but still elegant. Lizzy from Soul Flower Floral Designs made that vision come to life. I was absolutely obsessed with my bouquet, my bridesmaids’ bouquets, and the beautiful arrangements used throughout the reception.
John and I decided to do a first look at the top of Vail Mountain which was so incredibly special. It was nice to have a moment alone with each other before the ceremony overlooking the Rocky Mountain Range. The view truly took our breath away and the moment was perfect. Chris McLaughlin did an incredible job making us comfortable and the photos he took throughout the day truly captured the joy that we felt.
One personalized moment that I will always remember was having John’s brother play the guitar, while my dear friend sang ”When the Right One Comes Along” during the ceremony. We were so overwhelmed with love in that moment and it will stand out in my mind as the most complete I have ever felt.
Another special moment was when John and I took pictures with our wedding party under the iconic Covered Bridge in Vail Village. There was a food and wine festival happening that weekend making the bridge a very busy intersection. To have complete strangers be so accommodating while those photos were being taken was also very special.
Continuing with our authentic Colorado theme, we used vintage skis as our guestbook and gave guests wild flower seeds to “spread the love.” We provided personalized mason jars to drink our “I Do” beer from Gore Range Brewery. We also had fun games for the guests to play that tied in with our rustic theme such as the corn hole and pinball.
Jessica from A Vintage Affair Events & Rentals and her team went above and beyond to ensure the reception encompassed all the elements of our theme. Each aspect of the décor was truly perfect, from the whiskey barrel dessert table, to the beautiful lounge area, and the use of wooden crates to display pictures from our parents wedding.

Wine Country Elegance in Vail
Carina & James | August 24th | Vail, Colorado
From the bride: After I visited Vail with James, I fell in love with the town. I could not imagine having my wedding in a more beautiful location. A mountain destination wedding is so intimate and the views from the top of Vail Mountain are stunning.
THE DECOR
I had no idea what to expect with the décor. When I walked into the room I started crying. It was everything I could ever imagine and more. Quite frankly, I knew the room was decorated amazing, but did not appreciate its beauty until I saw Jason and Gina’s photographs of the room.
James and I really enjoy wine so we loved all of the wine-inspired touches.
