From the bride, Jenna: For our wedding, we wanted the feel of the mountains with a touch of formality. Anthony and I spend almost every weekend up in Vail from November-April skiing, so the mountains have been a huge part of our relationship.

Anthony put a TON of work into the tandem bike that was at our wedding. It was originally his uncle’s bike….it has a 1950’s French motor on it and Anthony took it over, completely restored it. He painted it our wedding colors, put on new seats, handlebars, basket, etc. Bikes were a big focal point of our wedding. We had it standing outside of our ceremony.

We bought 75 pashminas for the guests in case the weather was chilly. We tied a cute burlap ribbon around them, put them in a wooden cart, and wrote “to have and to hold in case you get cold” on a chalkboard.

Reading our vows to one another was amazing!

Each table setting had a bicycle bottle opener that said, “Let the adventure begin.”

RECEPTION DECOR
We wanted to go with an “eclectic” look…alternating between tall vs short; boxy vs round on each of the tables as far as the flowers and candles went. We didn’t want any of the table centerpieces to be the same and super matchy matchy. We set a romantic mood with dimmed lights and real candles, which was gorgeous.

The floral “swings” above the tables were breathtaking!

We had a Cuban cigar roller that hand rolled cigars for our guests. Our guest book was an old door we had people sign. We have since hung the door up in our new house and will have our favorite wedding photo blown up and put in the center.

The reception was SO. Much. Fun!!!! We had a live band, and they were absolutely incredible. The dance floor was packed the entire night!

We had an ice cream bar with milkshakes, so yummy!

Our late night snacks were sliders & truffle fries….such a big hit! An Autumn Mountain Wedding in Beaver Creek

LOOKING BACK, I wish I would have spent the week leading up to the wedding really soaking it all in. I was so busy running errands and finalizing last minute details that I was a little stressed when people starting coming into town.

An Autumn Mountain Wedding in Beaver Creek

ADVICE: ENJOY THE PROCESS! It will be stressful at times, but soak it all in because it only happens once! Have date nights with your fiancé and really work together to make it the most amazing event!

From the bride, Carey: Paul and I really wanted our wedding day to be about us and our love for each other. We’re both very introverted and planning a wedding ourselves was very stressful at times. We wanted to share our big day with family and friends because they mean so much to us, but we had to keep reminding ourselves throughout the whole process that it wasn’t about them and it wasn’t about making anyone else happy but us.
A Fall Rocky Mountain Teepee Wedding in Ouray, Colorado

WHY OURAY, COLORADO
Ouray was a special spot for both of us separately before we even started dating – I liked the hot springs and Paul loves to ice climb. I said Ouray was one of my favorite spots in my Match.com profile and he totally picked up on that. It was one of our bonding moments. Since being together we have traveled to Ouray regularly and have decided we really want to move there someday. We are currently in the process of trying to figure out how to make that work, sooner rather than later. We almost instantly agreed that it’s where we should get married. It’s such a gorgeous little mountain town and we really wanted to share it with our family and friends.

THE FIRST LOOK
The first look was so special and important for us. It allowed us to take a breath, recenter and refocus on each other, and have a really profound and beautiful moment just the two of us, before heading into the blissful revelry of the wedding.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT
Driving away together as man and wife – best 25 minutes on the road ever!

MY ADVICE
Have fun and make it about YOU and nobody else. Don’t stress the small stuff, but do as much as you can upfront so you don’t have to run around like crazy people on the days leading up to the wedding.

From the photographer, Amy Caroline:  When Sean contacted me and let me know that he wanted to propose to Stephanie here in Denver, and that he wanted me to photograph it, I was over the moon. The two of them are from Texas, but have family they were visiting in Denver.  We landed on Cheesman Park in downtown Denver as the backdrop for this big event. With its big columns, rose gardens and rolling green hills, it’s the perfect Denver park to pop the question.

A Surprise Wedding Proposal in the Park - Denver, Colorado

Sean was taking Steph out on a fancy dinner date, and just told her he was taking her on a walk through one of Denver’s city landmark parks beforehand. They strolled through the park; Steph oblivious to what was coming next.

A Surprise Wedding Proposal in the Park - Denver, Colorado

Sean had them sit down on a park bench, and read through posts from his journal. In it, he had written so many special moments that he and Steph had shared, the laughs, the tears, and mostly the joys they had had in their dating years. Lastly leading her to the page where he talked about how he knew he had wanted to marry her from the very beginning of their dating lives. He took her hand and led her to the next spot where he dropped down on one knee, officially asking her to be his forever. Steph was still so surprised, overjoyed, and shocked. With absolute joy and tears she said yes!

We strolled around the park, capturing the newly engaged couple. Stephanie couldn’t stop looking at her new bling, and smiling up at her darling fiance.

From the bride, Natalia: We choose to get married in the Grand Tetons because to us, there are no other mountains as impressive as the Grand Tetons – the prettiest place in the United States!

We had burlap welcome bags filled with mountain treats (e.g jerky, smores) adorned with  tags of our favorite mountain quote, “ The mountains are calling and I must go” John Muir.

We had our dogs with us for photos, and it was nice to have a dog sitter look after them so no one else had to. Jackon Hole Wedding in the Tetons

For our guest book, I had a wedding tree that guests added their thumbprints as leaves.

I had birdseed hearts hanging on Aspen branches as escort tags.

Our décor was simple with white and taupe lines and barn wood box flower arrangements.

My favorite reception details were the fireplace and the cake!

My advice: Take it slow! It goes by so fast. Even with only 32 people at the wedding, I still feel it was a blur. I was so happy to have a wedding video to see the events.

From the bride, Carole:
We moved to Colorado last year and immediately knew that wanted to have a mountain wedding. We fell in love with the scenery and the facilities at Devil’s Thumb Ranch and thought it would be a good welcome for our friends and family to the Colorado mountains.

Brinton Studios 0110

We created a wedding reflective of our personalities – maintaining a formal wedding feel while incorporating naturalistic and rustic elements. We chose a color palette of midnight blue with fall colors (burgundy, orange, and yellow).

We hoped to have the ceremony outdoors, but an early fall cold front and snow storm moved us indoors to the Timber House. Brinton Studios 0115 Brinton Studios 0116

We did a wine box ceremony where we wrote letters to one another and had our parents write letters to us with their most important pieces of marital advice.  We sealed the letters in a wine box with a bottle of wine by nailing the wine box shut, to open in celebration of 5yrs of marriage.

With such a beautiful barn and backdrop, we didn’t really feel like we needed a ton of decorations.  We hung a chandelier and lanterns from the barn beams.  We had a mix of tall and short floral centerpieces — tall vases with eucalyptus leaves to mimic aspens and short vases wrapped in birch bark.

The most memorable moment of the night was our first dance (rumba) to Queen, “You’re my Best Friend.”

My advice: Enjoy the process and remember it is supposed to be fun!  No one else will notice if things don’t turn out 100% the way you wanted them to.

From the photographer, Kim Payant:
Tara and Cody were such a cute couple! I loved that she had cowboy boots and he had a nice plaid shirt! They brought the “country look” to the mountains and I think it looked great! They come for Nothern Alberta, but got engaged at beautiful Lake Louise and they wanted their photo session taken there!  Although it was fall, it felt like a summer day. The leaves had started to turn yellow which created an amazing contrast with the turquoise of the lake!
