A Rocky Mountain Destination Wedding Week

From the bride, Rachel: Our wedding day was really like a wedding week. Considering the majority of our guests were traveling from out of state, we wanted our friends and family to join us in a weeklong celebration in the mountains amidst the highest concentration of 14’ers in Colorado. We had many activities planned: horseback riding, zip lining, white water rafting, hiking, ATV riding, fishing, and soaking in the hot springs. We finished the week with a bang by having our wedding day as the final event.

I wore my mom’s wedding dress, which was very sentimental and special.  On a table dedicated to her, I had many of her memorabilia put on display, including her shoes, purse, hat, gift bag, and a picture of her in the dress on her wedding day. We intimately knew everyone that was involved in our wedding ceremony.  We truly wanted only those that were closest to us to be present, so we didn’t hire any additional vendors.  My dad’s cousin officiated the wedding (who knew Tanner and I very well and was able to share stories to our guests of our first date 6 years prior), and our close friends played the keyboard and guitar for our music.

Tanner and I exchanged our personal vows by ourselves in a beautiful meadow in between our ceremony and reception.  Our photographer took photos of us from a distance, and we had a very special moment that was sincere and genuine.  This was by far the best part of our day – to finally be alone in the vast beauty of our surroundings, and make our promises to each other with only nature and God as our witness.  It was a beautiful experience to have this spiritual connection with each other.

Rachel’s RECOMMENDED VENDORS
Photographer: Brooke Trexler Photography  I absolutely loved Brooke.  She was very kind and approachable.  She was able to coordinate large groups of people into a single photo with ease, direction, and poise, and moved about ever so gracefully throughout our wedding day. While photographing us in the meadow, she was always trying to get the perfect picture with the perfect angle.  She even stepped on top of a cactus and had needles poking through her boots.  With a smile, she merely just slipped into some sandals and selflessly carried on.
