An Autumn Styled Shoot in Vail

From the style team: We wanted to show off what a mountain hip, yet romantic glam wedding could look like at Piney River Ranch.  We went with deep purples, greenery and creams for the perfect fall wedding. Every magical moment was captured by Kristopher Lindsay Photography. Haley Hyman with Platinum Weddings & Events designed and conducted the whole shoot. Petal & Bean created all of the beautiful florals while Laney + Joel Hall with Platypus Papers designed all of the stationery. What really brought the overall look together were the rentals, provided by Alpine Party Rentals. The bride + groom, Mary + Trask, are an actual couple tying the knot this year! Their dog, Sadie decided to join the shoot and the pictures were just beautiful!  The beautiful gown and tux were provided by Dora Grace Bridal.  Tessa Capaldi with Megan Cary Artistry did the hair and makeup.  The collaboration of these professionals was so incredible. Seeing this look come to life was indescribable!

A Rustic Styled Shoot in Vail

On a peaceful alpine lake surrounded by the stunning Gore Mountain range, this amazing style team created a beautiful example of outdoorsy rustic meets simple elegance that has us wishing we could beam ourselves into this gorgeous setting!

Outdoorsy, Rustic, Nature-inspired fishing wedding at Piney River Ranch, Vail ColoradoFrom the photographer Katie Bicket of Katie Corinne Photography:
An outdoorsy, rustic theme doesn’t have to be overly masculine.  This shoot is the perfect blend for both a bride and groom.  A fishing theme was incorporated into the boutonniere, a lure, and into the name markers for guests.  Of course, a few antlers as part of the centerpieces, compliment the decorative blue and white vases spread along the table with birch bark wrapped candles.  The floral colors are especially stunning against the dark blue flatware.  The floral work on this bouquet is amazing with pink, yellow, dark blue and violet pops of color, all wrapped with ribbon, lace, and a vintage brooch.

A Natural & Organic Wedding in Vail, Colorado

From the bride, Emily: We love Colorado – in particular outdoor Colorado. So, we wanted the feel of our wedding to very natural and organic. Almost everything was recycled – from the fabric on the table runners, the wood used to make the signs, the mason jars, it was all found through thrift stores, treasure hunting and estate sales.

Just about every aspect of our wedding was personally touched by us or someone we love. There were many nights spent laboring over details, constructing signs, painting, ironing, sewing, drafting programs. Everything was carefully planned and perfectly executed.

For my bridesmaids, I wanted dresses the girls could wear again.  We found them at Anthropologie and they were only $50. I loved them so much, I got one for myself!

Piney River Ranch is amazing! The backdrop to our ceremony was so majestic, and couldn’t have been more perfect. We had Cole’s Uncle Robert officiate our ceremony because we wanted someone who knew us the best and loved us dearly to be the one to unite us.

We chose to write and share personal vows, and in honor of our athletic backgrounds, we asked Robert to flip a coin to see who would go first (to mimic a coin toss before a big game).

The table centerpiece boxes were made by Cole using reclaimed wood from an old fence.

The table runners were made using fabric found at an estate sale by Cole’s Grammie.

The wedding favors were homemade peach jelly, complete with hand crafted thank you cards.

We chose not to put too much décor throughout the reception, mainly because we did not want to take away from the natural beauty surrounding us. And I think our guests would agree – the scenery of Piney River Ranch is more than enough.

My advice: Enjoy the time you have to plan. If there is something you truly want, you can find a way to make it work. Be open to alternative ideas, and be creative!

A Mountain Romance in Vail

Lauren & Benjamin | September 15th | Vail, Colorado

From the bride:
We love the mountains and the outdoors. We have both spent lots of time in Summit and Eagle Counties skiing, snowboarding, climbing, hiking and cycling. Ben proposed to me in Frisco, Colorado so we knew we wanted an outdoor ceremony in the mountains with a beautiful view.

It rained the day of our wedding, which I hear is good luck and honestly I wasn’t upset about it. Cloudy days make for great photographs! My favorite detail was my dress! I think I almost tried on every dress in Denver looking for that magical moment when you know “this is the one!” Just as I started to lose hope I found it. When I put it and looked in the mirror it brought tears to my eyes and I knew it was perfect! Once I found it, it was probably the easiest decision of the whole wedding!
I wanted our wedding to feel personal and reflect us as a couple. I wanted it to be artistic and creative.
My degree is in fine arts concentrating in Graphic Design. It’s both a gift and a handicap… I end up taking a lot on myself. I designed the save the dates, wedding invitations, made hairpieces and earrings for the bridesmaids. Our ceremony was amazing. It was freezing, but it was beautiful. I’ve been to so many weddings that they all start to seem repetitive and we did everything we could to make ours uniquely about us.My brother-in-law recently graduated seminary and preformed our ceremony. His knowledge of us and our relationship made it so special. I loved every moment of it. We did not write our own vows because neither of us felt we could eloquently express our feelings in front of a large group of people. So, instead we spent time reading through several sets of vows. We found some that really spoke to us, but saying them to each other on our wedding day was more powerful than I ever could have expected.I later found out that all day long our 3-year-old niece, who was also one of our flower girls, was following us around pointing at us and saying “Happily Ever After!” That affirmed everything! I truly was a princess that day!   Our guest book was a pair of antique skis that we sanded and re-stained.At the end of the evening we had a sparkler send off and a white limousine.RECOMMENDED VENDORS
