A Rustic Styled Shoot in Vail
On a peaceful alpine lake surrounded by the stunning Gore Mountain range, this amazing style team created a beautiful example of outdoorsy rustic meets simple elegance that has us wishing we could beam ourselves into this gorgeous setting!
From the photographer Katie Bicket of Katie Corinne Photography:
An outdoorsy, rustic theme doesn’t have to be overly masculine. This shoot is the perfect blend for both a bride and groom. A fishing theme was incorporated into the boutonniere, a lure, and into the name markers for guests. Of course, a few antlers as part of the centerpieces, compliment the decorative blue and white vases spread along the table with birch bark wrapped candles. The floral colors are especially stunning against the dark blue flatware. The floral work on this bouquet is amazing with pink, yellow, dark blue and violet pops of color, all wrapped with ribbon, lace, and a vintage brooch.
Love the willow and lace canopy on the canoe.

A Rustic Glam Wedding in Colorado
From the bride, Lindsey: Growing up, every year my family would take a ski trip to Colorado. I fell in love with Colorado and the mountains at an early age. Adel and I spent several vacations in Estes Park and made lasting memories that forever impacted our relationship. It was only natural that we would chose to get married in the town we loved and shared such strong memories.
I never was a big fan of uniform Bridesmaid dresses. I gave my bridesmaids a color palette (blush/taupe/metallic) and encouraged them to choose dresses that fit their personalities. There is nothing worse than having to buy and wear a dress you do not love. I wanted each bridesmaids to look and feel her best.
Each bridesmaid was given a fur collar to pair with their dress to wear on the big day- It ended up looking amazing!
We couldn’t have gotten married without our dog, Micky being a part of the day!
I wore a Nicole Miller gown from Nordstrom.
We placed a big focus on neutrals colors and flowers with pine cone and greenery elements.
We incorporated Native American elements into the ceremony, many of which my husband picked out himself.
Looking back, I never imagined I would be so stress free and relaxed the day of my wedding. I enjoyed taking in every moment of the big day!
We had a blast creating custom wedding gift bags for our guests!
For the centerpieces, we incorporated pieces of my personal milk glass collection. I have collected hundreds of pieces over the years that I am a little obsessed with.
My advice: Hire a wedding planner! Having a great wedding planner allows you to be able to relax and enjoy your big day. You shouldn’t have to worry about anything except getting married and having an amazing time!

A Rustic Fall Wedding in Colorado
From the bride, Amber: We just wanted a laid back wedding that was “comfortable” for everyone to enjoy yet memorable!
The ceremony was held on the lawn with the beautiful mountains in the background! The location just couldn’t be beat in our opinions! The highlight was the wonderful weather we had that day.
We had the reception in the barn, which is absolutely gorgeous.
The table linens were purple with burlap on top and the centerpieces were square vases with purple ribbon around the top and green apples inside with a sunflower on the top.
Jared wrote a little story on everyone’s personalized menu about the table that they were sitting at which was a different city/town in Germany that we were going to visit on our honeymoon!
Looking back, I LOVED that feeling of it being “your” day!! I HATED how fast the day went! Yikes it flew by! I CRIED as I walked down the aisle! Yep I was one of “those”!!! And yes I LAUGHED AND GIGGLED when I knew I would spend the rest of my life with the man I love!!! We had an awesome wedding!!!

A Colorado Mountain Wedding
From the bride, Elizabeth:
We absolutely love the outdoors and that was a priority of ours- finding a venue that reflected that desire, as well as displayed the grandeur of Jesus. The town of Grand Lake is so quaint and there is so much at your fingertips for your guests to experience.
We wanted our day to be unique to us as a couple and ultimately reflect our love for one another and the Lord.
With the grandeur of Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Lake encompassing us, our wedding ceremony took place outdoors. There was such a lovely feeling of rustic elegance in our natural surroundings.
The flowers were a spectacular assortment of ivory, coral and eucalyptus green combined with the contrast of birch bark and aspen branches.

A Bohemian Wedding in Boulder, Colorado
From the bride, Aryn: We both attended Colorado State University, and although we moved for our careers following college, Colorado still felt like home. My sister lives in Boulder, and we realized we could have the intimate ceremony at her house, walk to amazing dining at Colterra, and return to have the reception without time limits typically set by venues. We decided to have the wedding in her backyard, not to save on cost, but to be somewhere we truly felt comfortable to enjoy the day and being together.
Everything was personalized and handmade! We draped burlap and chiffon fabric along the outside of the house, hung countless bulb lights, hung glass vases filled with wildflowers and candles, had pictures printed of us, incorporated antique trunks, mismatched antique chairs, vintage boxes and so many unique elements. Both of our names start with A, so we had A’s around the venue and tables.
We loved vintage pieces mixed with the sort of effortless that bohemian and rustic offers.
My husband and I spent hours writing our own ceremony that would mix our personalities and views on marriage. Writing it ourselves took a lot of work, but it was so personal and filled with love. Our brother in law married us, and brought such comfort to the ceremony since we know him so well. We wrote our own vows, and there was plenty of emotion all around!
Rain was threatening all day, but as we kissed for the first time, a loud rumble of thunder hit. Our guests still talk about it today and what perfect and crazy timing it was.
My husband and I have been together for 9 years before we got married, and have so many life events that have occurred. We handed out cards during cocktail hour for people to write their favorite memories, stories or ideas of our future. As we walked to dinner, we had “stations” set up with dates on a chalkboard that were meaningful for Aaron and I. At each stop, our friends and family shared what was on their card, and we were all able to talk and laugh as we took a trip down memory lane and our story came full circle at the last stop, our wedding day.
My advice: Relax and just be true to yourselves as couple. There is no “right” way to get married. It is such an emotional day, and should be focused on two people committing their lives together, not on what centerpiece you have. Stay focused on the real purpose, and your guests will feel that love and energy to create an unforgettable day.

A Montana Mountain Ranch Wedding
From the bride, Kelsie:
Johnny and I spend most of our time together in the mountains and we both knew that a mountain wedding would best suit us. We also wanted our guests to be able to experience a little piece of our lives.
Every time we set out for a mountain adventure no matter what season it is, we are both amazed by the beauty of nature itself, so our inspiration for our style of wedding was to create an overall natural appearance.
Our dog Rocco held the “ Here Comes the Bride” sign. He had no practice before the wedding and walked down the aisle perfectly while our guests laughed.
Our ceremony was set right on the Big Hole River surrounded by mountains. Johnny’s brother, Joe had spent weeks building a willow arch for us. During the ceremony there were a few moments of thunder, which was very special to us, because when Johnny proposed to me it was on the side of a mountain during a heavy rain and lightning storm. We could not help but smile at each other.
Saying our vows was one of the most emotional experiences I have ever felt. In that moment we both felt all the love, pain, and struggles we had went through to be able stand together in front of God, our family, and friends to be married.
We had white tablecloths with burlap runners and beautiful mountain bouquets in mason jars resting on top of fresh cut tree bark slabs with river rock sprinkled around everything.
We rented big white tents for the reception so our guests could enjoy the beautiful Montana scenery. Two live bands played into the dark as the sun set behind the mountains. I wanted to have sunset photos, so Jacilyn took us away to enjoy a moment I will never forget. Being able to have that special moment with the one you love the most was magnificent!

Mountain Climbers Tie the Knot in Silverthorne, Colorado
Rachel & Brent | Silverthorne Pavilion
From the bride: We decided that anything we did had to be a reflection of “our” taste, not just one or the other. So we had a sit-down together to discuss and came out of it looking for a venue in the mountains (we are both huge outdoor enthusiasts), that had an outdoor ceremony site, and that felt intimate and down-to-earth. We ended up loving the Silverthorne Pavilion. It had the added perk of being a really cool vacation destination, and since most of our guests were from out of town, we thought that would show them a good time.
THE STYLE
We are both really into climbing (that’s how we met), biking, hiking, and camping, so we went for a mix of rustic and contemporary. All of the details were inspired by nature.
THE WEATHER
The actual day was rainy, literally right up until 10 minutes before the ceremony! Then it just stopped and the sun came out for the rest of the day.
THE CEREMONY
One of my favorite elements was in the ceremony, we had our families add stones to create a cairn (a sort of guidepost made out of stones that climbers, hikers, and bikers use) to symbolize their guidance in our lives.
THE SEATING CHART
The biggest handmade DIY project was our escort cards. The tables were named after Colorado 14’ers, and the seating card was a topographical map of the mountain you were sitting at, overlaid with your name and tagged with a carabiner since we met climbing. Brent and his dad put together this awesome hanging display.
THE FAVORS
We made the wildflower seed envelopes for the favors.
THE GUESTBOOK
The guestbook was river stones that guests could write on and throw in a bell jar.
ADVICE
My biggest advice is work with your budget. I made the mistake of starting to spend without portioning out money, and so the things that came first in planning are the ones that saw the most money. That meant that it got hard to work on things that came later, like the bar! My other advice is don’t get too involved in pinning, at a certain point you need to go out and see what’s actually available for your wedding and budget, and that’s way more fun than pinning!

Venue: The Silverthorne Pavilion. Very customizable and intimate.

A Vail Mountain Wedding
From the bride, Molly:
We wanted to bring in the rustic, woodsy elements of the great outdoors of Colorado yet still have the elegance of a wedding.
We personalized the day by bringing in elements to represent where we are both from. Both Nick and I are from Wisconsin, so we wanted to bring in quiet reminders of our home state. We decided to do a Green Bay Packers Cheesehead grooms cake, our escort card holders were little Wisconsin-shaped wood cuts, and our late night snack consisted of brats and cheese curds (to pay homage to some Wisconsin favorites!). We also brought our foam cheese heads to add to the photo booth prop table.
Our wedding ceremony encompassed a mix of cultures and history. We were inspired to do this because my grandparents suddenly passed away two years ago. They were primarily Scottish and English and had a passion for the Native American culture, so we encompassed these cultures and traditions into our wedding ceremony.
Throughout the entire ceremony, a hawk was flying above us, which is the sign of your ancestors in the Native America culture, so we took this as my grandparents were looking down on us. It was a very special moment!
We had late night dessert cups which were little s’more and strawberry shortcake desserts in tall glass shot glasses.
My advice: Enjoy the engagement period and don’t get too stressed out about wedding planning. Remember that the wedding is about you and your groom and you should do what makes both of you happy. Also, on the day of your wedding, don’t forget to stop and take in moments of the day together. It will help you remember the day and slow it down a bit. It goes by way too fast!
