A Garden Themed Wedding in the Mountains
From the photographer, Brie Marie Photographers:
Katie & Kyle’s wedding was held at Katie’s family nursery. Not only was this a beautiful little spot for a wedding, it was also sentimental to the bride as it was the place she grew up going to visit her daddy at work. The type of quiet serenity that comes with driving miles up into the breathtaking White Mountains in Arizona is something you will never experience in the hustle and bustle of a city. It turned out to be a blustery and stormy day complete with torrential downpour and golf ball sized hail. Despite the fact that it was a summer wedding held on August 3rd, there was one point during the day that it appeared as if it had recently snowed because the ground was covered in sheets of hail. Everyone, including the bride, took it in stride. At one point, Katie looked out the window and said “I have lived her my whole life and I have never seen it rain like this!”
Katie didn’t miss a beat when it came to details. Her color scheme was grey, white and green. She made most of the decor herself which all pointed back to the nursery theme. She thought of everything from potted basil and rosemary plants set on old wooden pallets to candles wrapped in herbs. Every detail was absolutely perfect and practically dripping with sentimentality.
Katie wore a stunning satin and beaded, one shoulder, dress with matching veil and held an exquisite white and green bouquet which was photographed on the ladder leading up to the treehouse that Katie and her brother played in as children. But, perhaps, the sweetest thing Katie wore were the pearls given to her by her grandfather when she was born. The Bridesmaids wore simple grey dresses with green sashes and their look was topped off by the most comfortable shoe in the history of bridesmaids – TOMS!
The ceremony site was a sea of people wearing ponchos and holding umbrellas. Until the bride and her dad began to walk down the aisle. As soon as they stepped for out of her dad’s old Ford truck the clouds parted and the sun shone through the clouds in creating one of the most breath taking skies I have ever seen. It didn’t rain another drop the rest of the night!
Kyle and Katie were married on a bridge made by Katie’s father and brother and underneath the tree that Katie and her dad planted when he first opened the nursery.
They danced for the first time as husband and wife under the stars surrounded by towering pine trees and the many friends and family who absolutely adored them.
The night was concluded by one of the greatest parties I have ever witnessed. Not a single guest stayed in their seats. There was hardly even enough room on the dance floor to hold everyone! It was an absolutely wonderful day for one of the sweetest and most genuine couples I have ever met. Their love for one another just bubbles over in everything they do.
