From the style team: We wanted to show off what a mountain hip, yet romantic glam wedding could look like at Piney River Ranch.  We went with deep purples, greenery and creams for the perfect fall wedding. Every magical moment was captured by Kristopher Lindsay Photography. Haley Hyman with Platinum Weddings & Events designed and conducted the whole shoot. Petal & Bean created all of the beautiful florals while Laney + Joel Hall with Platypus Papers designed all of the stationery. What really brought the overall look together were the rentals, provided by Alpine Party Rentals. The bride + groom, Mary + Trask, are an actual couple tying the knot this year! Their dog, Sadie decided to join the shoot and the pictures were just beautiful!  The beautiful gown and tux were provided by Dora Grace Bridal.  Tessa Capaldi with Megan Cary Artistry did the hair and makeup.  The collaboration of these professionals was so incredible. Seeing this look come to life was indescribable!

From the bride, Carey: Paul and I really wanted our wedding day to be about us and our love for each other. We’re both very introverted and planning a wedding ourselves was very stressful at times. We wanted to share our big day with family and friends because they mean so much to us, but we had to keep reminding ourselves throughout the whole process that it wasn’t about them and it wasn’t about making anyone else happy but us.

WHY OURAY, COLORADO
Ouray was a special spot for both of us separately before we even started dating – I liked the hot springs and Paul loves to ice climb. I said Ouray was one of my favorite spots in my Match.com profile and he totally picked up on that. It was one of our bonding moments. Since being together we have traveled to Ouray regularly and have decided we really want to move there someday. We are currently in the process of trying to figure out how to make that work, sooner rather than later. We almost instantly agreed that it’s where we should get married. It’s such a gorgeous little mountain town and we really wanted to share it with our family and friends.

THE FIRST LOOK
The first look was so special and important for us. It allowed us to take a breath, recenter and refocus on each other, and have a really profound and beautiful moment just the two of us, before heading into the blissful revelry of the wedding.

MY ADVICE
Have fun and make it about YOU and nobody else. Don’t stress the small stuff, but do as much as you can upfront so you don’t have to run around like crazy people on the days leading up to the wedding.

From the bride, Danielle: In the beginning planning stages, I fell in love with so many different styles.  A few times during the early (and middle) stages of planning, I committed to styles I thought I wanted, mainly due to others influences. None of these styles “felt” right though and around the halfway mark, I finally decided to go back to the drawing board and go with my gut and chose a color palette of goldenrod, ecru and grey.

I wanted to do something different with my flowers.  Silk flowers were an obvious no and real flowers are gone in a few days and I wanted my flowers to last longer.  I thought the Sola flowers were simply perfect and the Craspedia gave my wedding the modern edge I was looking for.  What’s really cool is that I still have my bouquet and Josh’s boutonniere today.  They’re in the same condition as the day we wed.

Our dog, Bingo (a Chihuahua-Chinese Crested mix) was such a handsome boy in his bowtie and, while slightly neurotic during the ceremony, he was a shining star during the family photos!

Our ceremony took place outside on the upper deck at Adventures on the Gorge. We had an amazing view of the New River from the mountaintop.

I searched for hours to find quotes that would define our relationship and the love we have for one another.  I wanted depth and real meaning.  Not just a few fluffy words in a frame.

Looking back, truth be told, I would’ve eloped; on a remote island; Fiji perhaps.

From the bride, Mollie:
Our wedding was truly magical with the clouds allowing the rays of sun to shine through, the mountains as our backdrop, and the a group of loved ones watching over our every word (and a few spectators from the deck above).

KatieCorinne20Our first look was so simple and intimate in so many ways.  We got to see each other for just a few moments, enjoy our love and each other before the chaos of the day began.  I took that moment to give Eric cufflinks that had belonged to my grandfather, which meant so much to both of us and although our photographer was there photographing away, it was one moment that day where we could breath and be together without any distractions.

KatieCorinne21 KatieCorinne22

My favorite detail was the aisle décor. This was like having tiny wildflowers emerging from a mossy valley.

KatieCorinne23 KatieCorinne24

We filled satchels with lavender for people to toss as we recessed down the aisle.  KatieCorinne25 KatieCorinne26We had a seed ceremony with seeds of Colorado wildflowers that had meanings behind them that symbolized the words we thought to be the most important parts of a marriage.

KatieCorinne27

KatieCorinne28During our vows, every eye in the crowd was wet with tears, and we were just barely holding on to our wits as we each read our own vows.

KatieCorinne29 KatieCorinne30

KatieCorinne31I took the time, enjoyed every moment and never let myself get stressed for any reason.

KatieCorinne32We brought in an aspen tree for the reception that was our “wishing tree”.  The next day, the tree was taken to the Waldo Canyon burn zone and planted to help reforest the area.

We planted tiny succulents in tiny pots for our favors. KatieCorinne33

Our band was the highlight of the whole reception. Everyone danced the night away.

My advice: Start early, and choose a task or two a week, this way when the week of your wedding comes you can sit back and relax.  You’ll have the time to enjoy all your friends and family that have come to visit you for this one moment.   Mollie & Eric’s RECOMMENDED VENDORS

From the photographer, Charlotte Allegra:
Melissa & Kasey met while traveling, and decided to incorporate their love for travel and beautiful places into a gorgeous destination wedding at Lake Tahoe. Pops of grey and yellow against the the famous “Tahoe-blue” made for stunning portraiture. Their love for travel was showcased in the details – the wedding tables were named for places they had traveled together. The groom’s ring was made with gold they had panned from the Yuba river. The bride’s love of design was showcased in the flower arrangements – specifically the boutonnieres, which she designed herself. The couple did not have a bridal party, because they felt that all of their guests were equally special to them. The intimate wedding was perfect. You could tell that everyone there had a great love for both the bride and groom, and each other.

We chose Aspen, because we grew up in Colorado, met and fell in love here. We wanted to showcase Colorado at it’s best-Aspen in the fall.  DashPhoto01 DashPhoto02 DashPhoto03 DashPhoto04 DashPhoto05 DashPhoto06
Our favorite moment of the day was getting to spend extra time after the ceremony for photos as the sun was setting in the mountains.

My advice: Enjoy your day, and don’t worry about the details-they are just details. It is your special day and that’s all that matters in the end. DashPhoto10
